After the opening round's somewhat surprising outlay of points, there is already a wave of activity happening on the fantasy transfer market. This means some players are set to rise in value, and if you are after a short term monetary gain, then jumping on these players at the earliest opportunity is the way to make it happen.
Fabregas had a massive week and a lot of punters have already jumped on him, hoping he can get another 22 points week in week out, despite not playing in Gameweek 2. There may be some slowdown as managers become cognescent of the fact he has no game in round 2, but the numbers may already be so great that a price shift becomes inevitable.
Wigans Jason Koumas also had a great opening week, and at a budget £5.0m he is a promising player to have in your team. At time of writing nearly 20,000 managers had transfered him in so he is going to shoot up in price. Of course, Wigans next set of fixtures may not bring as much success as the opening round, but midfielders are less of a risk than defenders when it comes to suffering really bad losses.
At the other end of the scale, many managers are now moving Neville out of their squads after Everton's disasterous misadventure against Arsenal. Things do not look right in the Everton camp, and there are surely more safer bets elsewhere. Make no mistake, Neville will continue to play, but there are certainly other players at that price point who are more likely to score bigger points before Neville does. Like Koumas, Hunt, Cattermole or Thomas, for example.
Managers are also all over Rodallega, Wigans striker. He had a fine game and after Wigan's horror fixtures list has passed, he may become this seasons Zaki. Time will tell if that happens, but in the meantime his price is likely to move due to large numbers of transfers. Get on him quick if you want to ride this bandwagon to £0.1m Profitsville.
In the backlines, Stoke City's Shawcross is also making a big splash, and is highly likely to rise in price as well. Unsurprisingly Lescott is being dumped by many players after the speculation surrounding his transfer talk affecting his performance, and Rio Ferdinand is also being sold down as managers pick up his teammates Evra and O'Shea.
Our Fantasy Picks for GW1Schmeichel Ivanovic Mertesacker Cedric Walcott Lallana Hazard Barkley Costa van-Wolfswinkel Rooney |
Leicester are a good shout to keep a clean sheet against Sunderland. Chelsea are the big guns and can't / shouldn't be overlooked. Lallana & Walcott are fantasticly good pre-season. S'hampton play the dreadful Newcastle, who will be booed off their home park in GW1. Everton are likely to put a few past Watford & Barkley is good value. van Wolfswinkel put a few away in preseason & knows where goal is. Man Utd have epic mids now, and Rooney is the sole forward. |
