Our Fantasy Picks for GW1

Schmeichel

Ivanovic Mertesacker Cedric

Walcott Lallana Hazard Barkley

Costa van-Wolfswinkel Rooney

Leicester are a good shout to keep a clean sheet against Sunderland.
Chelsea are the big guns and can't / shouldn't be overlooked.
Lallana & Walcott are fantasticly good pre-season.
S'hampton play the dreadful Newcastle, who will be booed off their home park in GW1.
Everton are likely to put a few past Watford & Barkley is good value.
van Wolfswinkel put a few away in preseason & knows where goal is.
Man Utd have epic mids now, and Rooney is the sole forward.

Week 2 EPL Cheapies

Now the first EPL round has been played we get a clearer idea of which lowest priced players are getting game time. From the defenders, Wilkinson earned 6 points in Stoke's clean sheet against Burnley. Their fixtures are something of a mix, facing Liverpool on gameweek 2 before playing a pair of lower teams. At £4.0 million, Wilkinson isn't a bad option if he can keep getting gametime. Portsmouth's Wilson may also prove useful.

In the midfield Wigan's Hendry Thomas picked up a bonus point and kept a clean sheet. Any budget player who picks up bonus points is a rare find, and we can expect to see Thomas' value increase over the next couple of weeks as players take him in. This may be premature however, as Wigan face a tough set of fixtures over the next month, including Man Utd, Everton, Arsenal and Chelsea in the next 6 weeks. Put Thomas on your watchlist and consider him then, or transfer him into the squad now while his price is low and keep him on the bench as backup. There may not be too many clean sheets in Wigans immediate future. Birmingham midfielder Fahey may also be worth considering; he played the full 90 minutes and Birmingham's fixtures do not include any of the Big 4. Henry of Wolves also played a full 90 in their loss to West Ham, but like Birmingham, the Wolves fixtures stack up slightly more favorably for the next few weeks (bar a visit to Man City in week 3). A win or two may be more likely for Wolves than the other teams mentioned here, and if this happens there may be points for the taking.

Looking at the forwards, Keogh and Ward both played 90 minutes for Wolves, and Folan played the full 90 for Hull. Both squads have a match this game week, although after facing Tottenham this week, Hull have the better fixture list for the next few weeks.

Remember, the next game week is only two days away, so be sure to set your squad early.
