Steven Whittaker of Norwich is a popular wee chap in the fantasy world. Some would say Bandwagon. In GW 1 he scored a goal, earned an assist and a bonus point, which certainly made his £4.0 price look deeelicious. On the back of that fine result, 130,000 people bundled him into their team, and he took a price rise for his efforts.
This week's match against Hull was a bit more sedate affair for him, roping in 2 points. At £4.1 with a proven record of earning points, he could be a fine cheap defender if he keeps playing. So Barry, will he keep playing? Will he?
No Barry, no he won't. Whittaker is currently in the team at the expense of the injured Sebastian Bassong. Sebastian Bassong is the Norwich team captain, and has been recovering from a groin injury. This week he was able to play a full 90 minutes for the Canaries U-21 team earlier this week. His return will make Whittaker a bigger rotation risk than a Ferris wheel on a Sunday.
Whittaker is a rotation risk at best, and bench-fodder at worst. Furthermore, Norwich's defense does not look good for consistent clean sheets.
Better choices than Whittaker include:
Chester from Hull
Collins from West Ham
Fonte from Southampton
Eddie Murphy from Raw
There it is. Whittaker: had a great start but I think he has earned the bulk of his points. He's possibly good for a few more games, but be ready to get rid of him.
Our Fantasy Picks for GW1Schmeichel Ivanovic Mertesacker Cedric Walcott Lallana Hazard Barkley Costa van-Wolfswinkel Rooney |
Leicester are a good shout to keep a clean sheet against Sunderland. Chelsea are the big guns and can't / shouldn't be overlooked. Lallana & Walcott are fantasticly good pre-season. S'hampton play the dreadful Newcastle, who will be booed off their home park in GW1. Everton are likely to put a few past Watford & Barkley is good value. van Wolfswinkel put a few away in preseason & knows where goal is. Man Utd have epic mids now, and Rooney is the sole forward. |
