Our Fantasy Picks for GW1

Schmeichel

Ivanovic Mertesacker Cedric

Walcott Lallana Hazard Barkley

Costa van-Wolfswinkel Rooney

Leicester are a good shout to keep a clean sheet against Sunderland.
Chelsea are the big guns and can't / shouldn't be overlooked.
Lallana & Walcott are fantasticly good pre-season.
S'hampton play the dreadful Newcastle, who will be booed off their home park in GW1.
Everton are likely to put a few past Watford & Barkley is good value.
van Wolfswinkel put a few away in preseason & knows where goal is.
Man Utd have epic mids now, and Rooney is the sole forward.

Vela: Visiting Hawthorn Hitman

West Brom have one of the better runs for the next few weeks, including a great home double gameweek in week 27 against West Ham and Wolves - there should be at least a few points in it for a Baggie player or two in this gameweek. Over the next 5 weeks, their toughest competition comes from Man City away in week 26, but is bookended with a match against Stoke and Birmingham as well as a match against Wigan in week 25. Given this schedule its easy to see some West Brom players getting in the points, and given their discount prices it may represent some good value over the coming weeks.

Most of the EPL Fantasy Football points come from the attacking end of the pitch, so midfielders Brunt and Morrison, or Odemwingie up front make the best choices at the moment.

Interestingly into this mix comes young Mexican striker Carlos Vela, previously sitting on the bench at Arsenal. His loan to the Baggies has trumped a reported move to Bolton when terms couldn't be met. Vela had a tough time of it at Arsenal, with Robin Van Persie, Samir Nasri, Andrei Arshavin, Theo Walcott and Marouanne Chamakh all ahead of him. Subsequently this season he has only played 65 minutes, but still managed to find the back of the net once. He has played over 30 times for Mexico and is a regular starter for the national squad.

His price is a mere £4.4m and if he becomes a regular starter as expected at the Hawthorns then he could be a real bargain as West Brom fight to avoid the cellar and cement their place in the top flight for another season. Definately worth saving a transfer before gameweek 27; early adaptors may want to consider him as soon as his club is updated in the Fantasy Premier League tables.

Nice piece. Just wondered how often you update the blog? As it's the kind of thing I'd like to read.

Thought I'd let you know that I just noticed next weeks fixtures (GW 28) has a Man U double, with Rooney, Nani and Berbatov all currently on fine form.

No games for Arsenal, Spurs, Bolton or Birmingham.

Although Everton and Birmingham will have a double the next week in GW29.

In conclusion if you were considering a Man U or Everton player now could be a good time.

I couldn't promise anything regularly (family life tends to get in the way) but I wouldn't mind contributing a brief post once in a while (obviously a little more wordy then the above). I could just email for you to add.
