Which Newly Promoted Team To Use First?

Quality, cheap players are vital to a top FF squad; the cheapest are often from the newly promoted sides. After the frist few gameweeks have passed we will be able to get a grasp of which squad is doing better and which players to pick, but pre-season it can be a touch difficult to tell.

Stoke, West Brom and Hull are the three new teams this season. Of the three, Hull are universally the favorite across all of the betting agencies to finish last and be relegated. On the surface, this sounds like Hull players may be a bad choice.

But we are not looking for cheap players who will be top at the end of the season; for now we just want to know which cheap players are going be top for the first couple of rounds. This will get your FF team off to a good start and not have them lose value, before transferring them out for other players that may prove to be better value.

And for the first few rounds, Hull have the much easier run of the three promoted teams. Betting agency BetFair actually has Hull as the 6th favorite to be top of the table at the end of August - only behind the Big 4 and Everton. The reason for this is Hull's opening fixture list:

16th Aug: home to Fulham
23rd Aug: away to Blackburn
30th Aug: home to Wigan

Conversely, Stoke play Bolton, Villa and Boro - 2 of which are away games. West Brom face Arsenal away, Everton at home and Bolton away.

Cheap players are often there to keep the bench warm and free up capital for the Big Name players - but in a strong squad the cheap players are also capable of contributing points if your regular team do not play.

Even though Hull are very likely to return to the Championship next season, for the first three gameweeks this year their players may represent the best choice from the newly promoted teams.
