Our Fantasy Picks for GW1

Schmeichel

Ivanovic Mertesacker Cedric

Walcott Lallana Hazard Barkley

Costa van-Wolfswinkel Rooney

Leicester are a good shout to keep a clean sheet against Sunderland.
Chelsea are the big guns and can't / shouldn't be overlooked.
Lallana & Walcott are fantasticly good pre-season.
S'hampton play the dreadful Newcastle, who will be booed off their home park in GW1.
Everton are likely to put a few past Watford & Barkley is good value.
van Wolfswinkel put a few away in preseason & knows where goal is.
Man Utd have epic mids now, and Rooney is the sole forward.

Arsenal's New Boy Nasri

Samir Nasri has confirmed his signing at Arsenal and has a starting cost of £7.5m in EPL FF midfield. According to all reports, the 21 year old Nasri is quite the versatile guy - able to play on either wing or in the hole behind the strikers.

His signing will put pressure on Hleb to depart; Hleb was a central player being forced to play wide as Fabregas and Rosicky controlled the centre spots. Now Hleb must compete with Walcott and Nasri for the right wing spot... it may be tough for him to stay, especially with offers from Barca coming in, and his stated distaste with the hectic London lifestyle.

Nasri managed 6 goals, 11 assists and no cards playing in 30 games for Marseille last season. A reasonable tally for a talented prospect, but to discover if he will become a star midfielder the £7.5m question is: will he start?

He has been bought into the squad as a long term prospect, part of Arsene's rebuilding brought on by "17 years of selling top players to fund Emirates Stadium". And when Rosicky is less than 100% fit, Nasri may well take his spot; the rest of the time he may find himself coming off the bench or being rotated with Walcott.

From an FF point of view, it is probably better to take a wait-and-see approach before acquiring him. Nasri will join the Arsenal squad on their pre-season tour of Austria on July 21; this will give a glimpse into possible lineups. The first three gameweeks provide a middling challenge for Arsenal as well, so those matches will provide a good indicator towards what sort of minutes Nasri can expect to get. Arsenal look to have the easiest Christmas and New Year opponents so Nasri may be worth looking at after the first month.

There is no doubt he is a fantastic young talent that will add depth to the Arsenal squad - but if he just doesn't get enough game time then he will not be worth it for FF managers. Just like Kalou at Chelsea last season.

In summary: do not purchase until Hleb leaves and Rosicky is injured. Watch the pre-season matches and early Champions League game to check for game time. At £7.5m Nasri could go either way - an absolute gem if he plays lots, or a money sink if he spends most of his time on the bench.
