West Ham United's website is reporting that Ashton's scan on his injured leg has reported no problems and come back all clear. They state he will "continue to be monitored but is hopeful of being back in action this coming weekend". Expect to see him playing between 70-80 minutes.
This is good news for West Ham and also for the 19,000 fantasy managers who had transferred him into their squad already. At £6.5 million pounds, his price is very likely to rise within the day, as the number of transfers required to drive up the price of a player owned by 15% of the competition seems to be around 20,000.
West Ham have a promising run of fixtures through September and into October: City away, Blackburn at home, West Brom away, Newcastle at home, Fulham away then Bolton at home and Hull away. If Ashton remains fit, his personal and his team's current form indicates there could be some good points to be had.
FF is a game about resisting temptation and making longer term decisions. Having waited out the possible injury scare on his leg, Ashton now makes a good choice as a cheap striker, in good form, facing a useful run of fixtures.
Our Fantasy Picks for GW1Schmeichel Ivanovic Mertesacker Cedric Walcott Lallana Hazard Barkley Costa van-Wolfswinkel Rooney |
Leicester are a good shout to keep a clean sheet against Sunderland. Chelsea are the big guns and can't / shouldn't be overlooked. Lallana & Walcott are fantasticly good pre-season. S'hampton play the dreadful Newcastle, who will be booed off their home park in GW1. Everton are likely to put a few past Watford & Barkley is good value. van Wolfswinkel put a few away in preseason & knows where goal is. Man Utd have epic mids now, and Rooney is the sole forward. |

Great news....now who should i trade for this coming week? Deco, Agbonlahor, bosingwa?
Id say Bosingwa. There is no telling what will happen with Deco when Van Persie returns. Agbonlahor has a good shot at points this week but I think Bosingwa is of longer term value, will bring in more points and will rise in value more as he is an integral part of the very in-form Chelsea defence.
After watching Modric's anonymous performance at the weekend where he barely got past the centre circle, i think i'm going to trade him.
What midfielders at 7.5 or less do you like? MGP has a good matchup against Hull, but i think Faubert could be a long-term bargain at 5.5 as he's taking kicks??
Or how about Osman at 6 going to West Brom?
I think MGP and Faubert are good choices!
Perhaps also Geovanni if you want a bandwagon that will probably keep rising as long as he keeps playing 90. Denilson is also taking some kicks at Arsenal and is probably ok, and if you can stretch the extra 0.1m without using a second transfer then Arteta looks like a must-have.
I agree, Arteta does look like a must-have. His performance was the only bright spot for Everton in their loss to Blackburn.
Speaking of Everton looking like shite, I'm tempted to drop Lescott in favor of a Big Four defender. What do you think, kj?
Perhaps hold him this week and see if he cashes in at West Brom, and if not then swap for a Big Four def.
There is a host of Big 4 players all cheaper than Lescott's £7.0m. Chelsea & Arsenal look the best bet, but there are options for next week at 'Pool as well.
Remember Man Utd have no game in GW3, so dont transfer them in next week!
